Bidens and our Nations Future
|
The politicians and pundits in Washington are saying many things about the presidential race and for many reasons. Some are legitimate, some seem hypocritical. For Instance.. - Some are saying Biden should stay in the race because he is the best candidate. Good for these people. They are loyal Biden supporters.
- Some are saying he should drop out of the Presidential race because he has lost his mental and physical abilities. Those who believe this should be urging him to resign now, urging Congress to impeach him, or urging the Cabinet to invoke the twenty-fifth amendment. If you feel that his mental and physical abilities are sufficently degraded.. he should no longer be president-Now . This is not an issue for the upcoming election. This is not an issue of electibility. This is an issue of National Security.
- Some are saying he should drop out of the Presidential race because of his poor showing in the recent debate and press conference. The argument is that he has lost the voters he needs to defeat Trump and will be unable to win them back in time for election. This is the Anyone but Trump Argument . Those who say this are arguing that Trump was such a terrible president and that his re-election means the end-of-democracy as we know it.
True... Trump was a terrible president. He did not accomplish anything that he set out to do. He didn't build his wall, he didn't prevent Putin's invading Ukraine, his money give-aways during Covid were the root cause ot the recent bouts with inflation that we have experienced. He encouraged Netanyahu to destroy Gaza, He didn't create new jobs, and he didn't discourage China for sending us their manufactured junk.
But, the end of Democracy... get real. Trump has neither the intelligence to accomplish this nor the intelligent advisors to help him do this. He is now even saying that he has no knowledge of the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025. Destroy Democracy...not a chance... Trump isn't smart enough.
- Some Democratic Party officials are saying that Biden should not only drop out of the race, but also release his delagates and have an open convention. In an open convention delegates (who were selected to support Biden) would be free to vote for anyone (not just Kamala Harris). So what then?.. will the concensus go toward selecting the candidate who would be most likely to defeat Trump (perhaps Michele Obama), or the candidate that would do the best job leading our great nation following Democratic Party ideals (perhaps Gavin Newsom).
IMHO... I hope this doesn't happen. If this seems contra to what was argued two weeks ago in this blog... It may well be. Minds can be changed.
- Republicans and Trump on the other hand have pretty much stayed out of this. Good for them... for once.
