Just when we were expecting a new indictment for ex-President Donald Trump (this time for his culpability in the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol), Special Prosecutor Jack Smith adds new charges to the existing indictment. This time for keeping additonal classified documents and for conspiring to obstruct justice.

It will be really interesting to see what kind of defense his legal team will be able to mount. Of course with his experience of dragging his attorneys into their own indictments, he may have to rely on the Public Defenders office for legal help. Can you imagine Rudy Giuliani or Sydney Powell planning his defense from their own jail cells.

They will certainly attempt to have evidence stricken, and impeach both evidence and prosecution witnesses. But beyond that, their only, and last hope will be to put Trump on the stand. I relish the possibility. Here is a guy who not only thinks he is above the law (but also that he is always the smartest guy in the room) going mano-a-mano with a incredibly smart prosecuting attorney who will be well prepared for the lying. He likely will be able to snooker Trump into admissions that will make his own attorneys cringe.... and Trump won't even be aware that it is happening.

The cover-up becomes more apparent every day (to us mere mortals). The steps that Trump has taken to attempt this cover-up are clear evidence that he knew he was guilty at the time. He can't claim that he didn't know that is was wrong. HE DID.

The electorate may very well have a clear choice next November... Between President Biden and a convicted felon. If we as a nation choose wrong... we will get what we deserve.
