Trump's Got It - But Who's In Charge

Yesterday it was announced that Soon-to-be-Former President Trump has tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus and was experiencing "minor symptoms". I join thousands of other insincere people wishing him, First Lady Melania, Hope, Kellyanne, a couple of GOP Senators, and perhaps more to come a speedy recovery. This is really the surprise that surprises nobody. Now that he has been moved to Walter Reed Hospital where he will be for a "few days" a couple of things come to mind.

First off, it is speculated that the move to the hospital would make around-the-clock access to critcal care specialists instantly available. Especially, he can be given oxygen immediately should his blood oxygen level drop quickly. This sounds like a great idea, except that patients are more likely to need oxygen during the second week of the illness. If critical-care oxygen availibilty is a deciding factor then expect him to be at Walter Reed more than just a few days.

It is also being reported that he is being given experimental therapies including Regeneron and Remdesivir. Why not bleach? The therapies are experimental because neither their safety nor their effectiveness have been proven. This brings up the question... why are they experimenting on the President? Is it because his condition is much worse than has been announced?

Even before he was transported to Walter Reed he had stopped using Twitter. Wow.. thats really huge and while it is a relief for many of use it is not really a good sign. One would have at least expecting tweets demanding that Joe Biden stop campaigning while he (the president) was sick, and also demanding that the election be posponed (it's not fair). Perhaps the White House physicians removed his iPhone to relieve stress, but I wasn't aware that increased stress was a factor in Covid-19 severity or recovery. I would think the opposite were true... Trump uses Twitter to relieve stress.

That leaves the issue of mental accuity. If he isn't up to tweeting, he certainly isn't up to protecting the national security of the United States. Vice-President Pence and the cabinet should immediately move to invoke the 25th amendment. Trump won't do this voluntarily. He would only voluntarly transfer his presidential authority to Ivanka, which he can't do and he doesn't trust Pence.

Which means that no one is in charge other than Kushner, Ivanka, Mark Meadows and Steven Mnuchin. How's that for a scary thought,
