Hard to Change People's Minds

I often refer to people who believe things that are not true and have stated opinions that they can't defend as being dumb or stupid or ignorant. I am reminded over and over that you can't get someone to change their opinion if call them dumb. So who's dumb here. I know full well that I can't change their opinion if I call them dumb. I also can't change their opinion if I tell them that I think they are smart and I would be lying.

Old Joke retold.. How many people does it take to change a light bulb.. only one but the light bulb has to want to change. I can't make someone else change their opinion.. They have to change their own. They can only do so if they have an open mind and are willing to learn new things.

So somewhere between 20 and 30 percent of voters believe that the 2020 election was "stolen" and that Trump should be President. Wow.. thats an incredible number. Why is this so offensive to the rest of us that we believe that we should work hard to change their minds and without calling them dumb. Lets just face facts ... those people are dumb, and they won't change their minds about the election.

Fortunately we have a pandemic (I bet you thought that this wasn't at all fortunate). It is incredibly fortunate that the same people who believe the election was stolen also don't believe that Covid-19 vaccinations are necessary. Is this a great country or what. How about going three for three. These same people are all in favor of making it difficult to vote other than at proscribed places and times. These are the same people who are likely to either die from Covid-19 before the election and remove themselves from both the pool of eligible voters as well as the genepool, or to be in the hospital during the election and unable to vote absentee.

Again, What a great country that we live in.
